Date: March 28th Time: 9:00 - 1:00 Parenting Programs, Fundraising, Speakers, Promotional Products, and School Supply Vendors will be at your disposal. We will also be giving away many raffle items for those who attend. All attendees will receive a special goodie bag & folder with great samples and ideas. Local Units, Councils & Area:
It is that time of the year to put into place your Nominating Committee. Please refer to your bylaws for specific instructions and deadlines.
The nominating process is one of the most time honored processes to a healthy organization and its future. Remind your membership to choose committee members that represent a cross section of your PTA, dedicated to the process, confidential, open to selecting individuals that have the necessary skills to lead, and are committed to the purposes of PTA. Experienced leaders that will tell you that your unit will be only as good as your nominating & election process.
Area 15 has already begun the nominaitng process by choosing their Nominating Committee. The 2008-09 Area 15 Nominaing Committee members are:

Calling all MEMBERS IN AREA 15....................
Area 15 has chosen April 25, 2009 to hold its Spring Conference. Exciting and informative workshops as well as area businesses, good food and good friends will be on the agenda for that day.
MARK YOUR CALENDARS NOW!!!! Please pass the word to all PTA local, council and area boards as well as new officers upon their election. You wont want to miss a minute of this productive day.
Location: Richardson ISD, Professional Development Center, 701. W. Belt Line Rd., Richardson, TX 75080 (On Belt Line Road, less than 1 mile west of North Central Expressway)

WOW! I am very excited to announce that we had a total of 1,494 reflection entries at the local level and 337 at the council level. Of the 337 entries, 34 entries were sent on to State for judging. I would like to thank all of the Reflection Chairs for all of their hard work during the height of the holiday season. I hope to have State results by our next newsletter. |

TX PTA has posted the 2009 Texas PTA Legislative priorities on their website. The following priorities will be supported by TX PTA for this legislative season. You can read more by viewing the full list on our web, or by visiting TX PTA . - Improve Indoor Air Quality of School Buses
- Strengthen Child Passenger Restraint Laws
- Promote Healthy Lifestyles through Increased Physical Activity, Rigorous Implementation of the Texas Public School Nutrition Policy, Support for Comprehensive Tobacco Prevention and Cessation Programs, and Parent Education
- Restrict Use of Cellular Technology by Teens While Driving a Motor Vehicle
- Secure Passage of a Smoke-Free Workplace Law
- Safe Schools
- Oppose Vouchers
TX PTA MAY SUPPORT THIS EFFORT AS WELL:
- Secure Funding for Seat Belts on School Buses
